Kara Ferland has been the Chorus teacher at her Alma Mater, Winter Springs High School for the past 10 years. She earned her Certificate of Church Music, Bachelors, and Master’s Degrees in Choral Music Education from The Florida State University. She has studied voice for 19 years, piano for 22 years, and guitar for 15 years. Under her direction, the choirs at Winter Springs have had a rich tradition of earning Superior Ratings at District and State Music Performance Assessment, and earning Honor Choir status with Disney’s Candlelight Processional for many years. Throughout her teaching career the Winter Springs High School Chorus has performed in Gatlinburg, Tennessee, as well as Carnegie Hall in New York City with composer Eric Whitacre. Having served as District 6 Chair in the Florida Vocal Association, she is an active member of various professional organizations including the Florida Music Educators Association, American Choral Directors Association, and the National Association for Music Education.

Kara considers it an honor to teach at Winter Springs, and could not be more thankful for the outstanding support of her administrators, parents, and most of all, fantastic students.
